JT #1 School District's BUS CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS
When Students violate the bus riders rules and regulations, disciplinary measures will be taken.
Saylesville School's Bus Rules
The bus is an extension of the school and appropriate behavior is expected. To maintain safe bus service, all students are required to behave appropriately, cooperatively and orderly. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Every child is entitled to a safe and peaceful ride. Bus transportation is a privilege and not a right.Students will not be allowed to ride a different bus or alter their transportation in any way without a signed note from their parent or guardian. The note must be given to the student's teacher at the beginning of the school day.
The District's Code of Conduct governs student behavior.
1. Remain seated at all times.2. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
3. Respect others and their property.
4. No yelling, screaming, or swearing.
5. No eating or drinking on the bus.
6. No walkman or electronic games.
Consequences for Breaking Bus Rules
1. The Driver will issue a verbal warning to the student.2. The driver will assign the student preferential seating.
3. The driver will notify the Bus Company and the District Administrator of inappropriate behavior. A warning letter or phone call will be placed to the parents either by bus company management or school officials.
4. A suspension from bus riding privileges may occur. Transportation during a suspension will be the responsibility of parents.
5. A suspension from school and possibly, a hearing with the Board of Education may be assigned.
Consequences administered by the bus driver, bus management , or school administration, will be based on the type, severity, and /or frequency of the student's misbehavior.
As you can see, there are many similarities between school Districts. The way misconduct is handled may vary from District to District, but the expectations of behavior remains constant. Procedures for dealing with misconduct are included with your Districts student handbooks. Please review them with your student as the schools handbooks may be more up to date than the information printed here. We will try to keep you up to date with your schools policies and procedures, but if there is a question, please refer to your school information for the definitive answer.
